Service Description
Please note, the first 3 classes are held at Merriott Social Venue, final 3 weeks are held at Tail Mill Dog walking field, Tail Mill Lane. Please ensure you have read the Embark Dog Training Terms and Conditions, particularly regarding our cancellation policy, our reward-based-only approach to handling and rules on aversive equipment. What does the course cover: *Handling your puppy appropriately *Reinforcing desirable behaviours *Working on less desirable puppy behaviours *Helping your puppy when they are frightened, confused or over-excited *Appropriate behaviour around other dogs and people *Focus and engagement ...as well as everything else you would expect from a puppy course and lots lots more besides! Also, registering for this course also gives you free access to my Puppy Life-Skills Course Academy, which is a website of a great many videos for all your puppy training and behaviour needs, from how to teach basic behaviours to advice on house-training, chewing and puppy biting. What do you need to bring every week? A lead with a handle; A flat collar; A flat-handled lead; A well-fitting harness; A long line; Your dog's bed or mat; A water bowl and a bottle of water for your dog; LOTS of different sized treats. We may not use a long-line or your dog's bed every week, but please still bring them every week. It is dangerous to use a long-line on a dog without a harness due to the risk of neck injury when a long-line is attached to a collar, which is why we ask you to bring a well-fitting harness with your to all classes. Your dog's welfare and safety is our priority, so we may ask you to sit out of a certain task if safe equipment s not available. Please, no flexi-leads, slip-leads or check/choke collars. Embark dog trainers are dedicated members of The UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter, The Association of Pet Dog Trainers and The Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors and will not tolerate the use of aversive equipment within our classes, including but not limited to spray collars, e-collars, prong-collars or choke-collars and you will be asked to leave the class until the aforementioned equipment is removed. CANCELLATIONS: Due to our aim to keep class sizes small, we rely on the numbers booked to make each course viable as venues are arranged prior to the start of the classes. Therefore, refunds cannot be issued if cancellations are made within 7 days of the first class date or after the course has begun as it means it's highly unlikely we can fill the space. We will, in all instances, try to fill the space and if this is the case, a refund will be issued minus a £10 admin fee. For some canine behavioural problems it may be necessary for me to visit you and your dog at you home address, which may mean your booking date or time may have to change. It may also be necessary for me to refer you to a clinical or Veterinary Behaviourist. Embark Dog Training Terms and Conditions: - Any information provided by the owner regarding a dog’s behaviour is private and confidential unless the welfare of the dog and/or the public and/or people in the household is at risk or permission has been granted by the owner to share relevant information with a veterinarian. - Owners are expected to have read and understand the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 before the social walk. - Any information, recommendations and advice given by Embark Dog Training is given with the understanding that training and behaviour recommendations will be performed and implemented with the dog under strict control by the owner, including the use of protective equipment where necessary e.g muzzle, long-line, lead, harness. - You are responsible for the behaviour and actions of your dog during or after the social walk, training or behaviour appointments. - You are responsible for injury sustained to any person(s), including the trainer, yourself or member of the public during or after the social walk, training or behaviour appointments. - Safety of you, your dog and the public is of paramount importance. If, during the course of the social walk, I feel that my safety, the safety of you, other persons, your dog or other dogs cannot be ensured, I reserve the right to ask you to remove the dog from the social walk, training or behaviour appointments immediately. - I love to take pictures of the dogs I work with, but I understand that not every dog owner is happy with this. I do post photographs of walks and training sessions on my Facebook page to keep others updated on the type of services I provide. If you would rather I didn’t do one or either of these, please let me know.
