Therapy Dog Certification
Are you wanting to certify a dog as a therapy dog? To receive a Therapy Dog Training UK Visiting Therapy Dog Certificate, you have to have undertaken 3 core steps which we have listed in detail below.
Pre-assessment
If you are not sure if your dog would make a suitable therapy dog, a pre-assessment is a great place to start.
A pre-assessment involves running through the expectations for you and your dog to deliver a visiting therapy dog service. This will involve a temperament assessment as well as an assessment of your current level of training.
This is not compulsory and can be booked any time, even if you have already begun the Therapy Dog Workshops 1 & 2.

Complete Therapy Dog Training Workshops 1 & 2
To complete this step, you must have also submitted the two straightforward assignments, both found in Workshop 2. You will also earn 60 Accredited hours too by completing the online courses!
There is no time limit so you can work through the online courses at your own pace.

Undertake a Therapy Dog Training UK Temperament Assessment
Once you have completed your Therapy Dog Training Workshops 1 & 2, contact me to book in your Therapy Dog Training UK temperament assessment.
It is recommended that therapy dogs are 18 months before they can commence this valuable work, thereby allowing plenty of time for training for both dog and guardian and for the dog to fully mature.

Gain the Therapy Dog Training UK Visiting Therapy Dog (dog training) Award
This is the equivalent to a UK Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver Award and the recommended level of training for therapy dogs.
The criteria and respective instructional videos for each training behaviour required are all available to you with lifetime access in Workshops 1 & 2.
If you would like to book your award assessment, you can do so at the same time as your Temperament assessment.
