🙈Is your dog friendly towards other dogs and people, but you are too worried about them running off to let them off the lead?
🏃♀️Is their recall patchy?
Do they chase wildlife and scent, taking off into the ether, leaving only dust in their wake?
👉Do they not engage with you on walks?
😵💫Do they find their environment so over-stimulating that letting them off the lead is just a no-no?
🥱Do you stick to the same route on your daily walks because it feels 'safe', but wish you could explore new places?
😕Do you feel that your dog is missing out on 'life' because of these things?
Would you like to work with your dog on building trust, improved reliability, more focus and engagement with you rather than being reinforced by their environment?
Session 1 - We meet at a location that your dog knows well to work on management and training strategies that are tailored to what the main issues are. These might include long-line handling skills, recall strategies, building-proximity strategies and engagement games.
You then spend at least a week working consistently on those strategies on every walk with your dog IN THE SAME PLACE, keeping a daily diary of what went well and what didn't go quite so well! Then, when you are seeing an improvement, we schedule session 2.
Session 2 - We meet at a second location to continue strengthening strategies and, potentially introduce new ones, depending on what the environment demands. You spend another week or so working on strategies in our second location.
Session 3 - We either meet in a third location or continue working in our two previous locations.
Session 4 - We go to a final location, if appropriate.

Scent Club
Calling all who have dogs who have some scentwork experience and would like to join us on our Scent Club sessions,
My scentwork sessions take place on Fridays. We are based at the Merriott Social Venue, but whilst the weather is good, we tend to try to get out and about a bit more.
This year, we have visited Ferne Animal Sanctuary, Ilminster Warehouse Theatre, completed several walking scent-walks around Merriott and the surrounding woodland.
The sessions are 90 minutes long and usually start at 12.00 and 2pm.

About
Hello and welcome to my page. My name is Emma Rogers and I am a rewards-based trainer in Merriott, Somerset.
I have been training dogs professionally since 2016. I teach classes in fun obedience, puppy life-skills, scentwork, focus and engagement for dogs of all ages, breeds and abilities.
I spend most of my teaching days conducting 121 private sessions either with me in Merriott or in clients' own homes.
I am a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (membership no: 01596) and the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC). This also makes me a member of the UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter. What this means is, my theoretical and practical knowledge of dog training has been thoroughly assessed and accredited according to strict criteria and I work within a code of conduct that ensure I use only kind, fair and non-aversive training methods.
At its heart, the UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter™ is a code of conduct, ethics and methodology. More than that however, the Charter is a collaboration of many of the UK’s leading behaviour and training membership organisations who for the first time have come together cooperatively under the Charter umbrella to work in unison for the benefit of dogs, dog owners and guardians, and the wider profession.
In an unregulated industry, dog owners can often struggle to find a suitably accredited professional to help them and their dog. While there are many excellent professionals working nationwide, there are also many who continue to use outdated and aversive methods without any oversight or accountability.
I am an accredited Therapy Dog Handler and Trusted Trainer with Therapy Dog Training UK and a certified assessor for the National Nosework Association.
